Horse Powertrain’s X-Range C15 has been awarded the prestigious European Product Design Award (EPDA) for its innovative powertrain design.
The X-Range C15 is the world’s first production-ready solution designed to convert battery-electric vehicles into range-extended EVs. The system integrates a highly efficient 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine, generator, and inverter within a single shared housing.
More importantly, it has been engineered specifically for integration into existing EV platforms. That gives automakers an additional degree of flexibility — they can continue developing and investing in their EV lineups while retaining the option to extend vehicle range.
Despite delivering up to 120 kW of power, the complete unit measures only 500×500×275 mm. Its compact, flat architecture also allows for either horizontal or vertical installation.
The EPDA recognition marks an industry endorsement of the system’s design excellence and engineering practicality.
